Various strands of Jons’s formal research appear to merge. Dans les profondeurs de la nuit and Compactitude, where pill-shaped elements still exert a strong impact, conclude his experiments with contours.

This is also an intense period of production, with key works such as La valse des sentiments or L’ivresse d’un nouveau départ signalling a move towards increasing fluidity. The lines are slipping, stretching vertically across the image plane, while the strokes become broader, as in Il est temps de prendre l’air, which demonstrates the full extent of the artist’s technical ability.
